She protects her Rudi by saying that it is true. * Es v.aggressive. His resentment of Rudi is v. noticeable. * Pg.37: E tries to be jokey about the women in Italy sleeping around but his in fact being quite rude. * When Rudi tries to defend his culture E uses it as a way of explaining himself. * Pg.38: He talks in the third person to make it sound general But he is so obvious Both B and Rudi answer Back referring to Rudi and C. * Marco tries to be co-operative. * Pg.39: C tries to rebel by asking Rudi to dance. Rudi tries to be polite to E and refuses, but B encourages him. * E tries to fight back by asking if it is a new record- implying he has been wasting money. * Pg.40: throughout his speech E is constantly twisting a newspaper which eventually tears. In this speech he tries to prove Rudi is a homosexual. * After this speech he Becomes v. friendly, But starts to drop hints that he is a real man- telling B to make his coffee nice and strong. * Pg.41: E then starts to Box Rudi to relieve some of his aggression. * Rudis gentle retaliation to his punch is to ask C to dance. * Marco also realises this and asks E to lift up a chair. He tries to keep it light and jokey but E knows his true meaning. ACT II Section 7: pages 44-48 * Pg.44: C is afraid of E, she would never have been scared of him before. She knows that loving Rudi is hurting E and she doesnt know what his anger and hurt could result in. * Rudi crosses over to the rocker, which has generally been associated with Es authority. * He is angry he doesnt like the way E is treating C. * Pg.45: C and E Both thought that the future was going to Be happy, But now C knows that doing something that is so natural (loving Rudi) means hating E. Her utter and pure hatred towards him is shown when she compares him to a rat in the rubbish. * This scene is the total opposite of the start of the play where everyone was happy; e is now throwing tables at c. * Pg.62: b has always known that e has loved c and to try and stop someone from dying she puts her feelings into words. * Pg.63: e and c are both disgusted. He actually physically cannot hold all these emotions in his head. He has never fully understood his feelings and now that they have been put into words he feels in agony. The idea of him wanting to violate his Madonna breaks every value he has ever held dear. * As in all classical tragedies this is Es moment of recognition. * Death is the only answer so he goes out in defiance calling for his name- the only thing he has left. He knows he is defeated but carries on. * Es feelings for c are so intense he has destroyed himself. Love is usually a positive emotion but when it is so intense and passionate it takes over. * Pg.64: Es death has ruined all their lives. Cathie and Rudi will have to get married with it hanging over them. Marco will go to prison and then back to Italy, b wills b the widow of a horrible man in a neighbourhood that never forgets. * Cath forgives him in his death. * She is so confused in a few moments so much has happened she is guilty, in disbelief and in turmoil.

It may be particularly difficult if you were invited for an interview for graduate school; however, as many as 75 percent of applicants invited for interviews dont get into grad school. Why Was I Rejected? The simple answer is because there aren’t enough slots. Most graduate programs receive far more applications from qualified candidates than they can accept. Why were you eliminated  by a particular program? There is no way to tell for sure, but in many cases, applicants are rejected because they demonstrated poor fit. We walk through, a chucks doll appears out from the frame cut out of the wall, my heart skips a beat and I don't think much of it, it scares me a little and let out a scream, I think to myself this isn't so bad after all, I think I spoke to s oon.After that various horror film characters start Jumping out and appearing around corners as I alike through and I am beginning to freak out. Suddenly, I am cornered by what seems to be a very frightening clown. He has a large crack in his skull it seems to be as wide as the grand canyon, his face is all distorted and has open flesh wounds all over, his eyes are as black as the ace of spades, with black rings circling them, his outfit has been ripped and has blood all over it, his immense red nose is directly in front of mine.He seems to becoming closer and closer and I have no where else to go, so I crouch down and hope he'll disappear as non as I drop to the floor In fear, he finally backs away and I try and make a run for It so I can get out as fast as possible. I run as fast as possible but I have come too room full of mirrors, I'm disorientated, I feel as though the whole room is spinning around me and don't know which ways the way out, I start running towards the way I thin k is the exit but instead it's a mirror, I run directly at it.I hit it with such force. Everything turns too blur and starts going In slow motion as If was in a dream. I feel pain miming from my mouth, my tongue make's Its way to my two front teeth, but they don't feel Like teeth anymore, more like sharp razors In my mouth, In this split second of a moment I finally realize what has happened, I've knocked half of my two front teeth out, I hold out my hand, and there lies half a tooth in a pool of blood, I freak out.I start to panic and I start screaming, it's still pitch black inside, with hardly any light. People around me don't understand what's going on and they think I'm still scared, sees the blood pouring out of my nose and mouth and runs to get help. I continue screaming looking for a way out, I feel trapped, I feel claustrophobic, I'm in fear that another actor will come and frighten me, I bang on all the walls firmly pleading for someone to get me out, but it seems as thoug h no one is listening and I feel as though I'm on my own.I have never felt or experienced this sensation before, and I am terrified. My friend finally comes back with an amusement park worker to escort me out, I feel safe with her by my side telling me she'll get me out safely and that'll everything will be okay. The many memorabilia and personal trinkets of one of the most famous writers in Philippine literature surprisingly epitomized the exact contradictory, or some will say the exact sentiment, of the lines of the beautiful poem above. The personal touch of the displays in the 2nd floor gallery brought an intimate ambience to the whole exhibit, and it brought to light another aspect of a renowned writer apart from his professional excellence. Jose Garcia Villa is one of the most eminent Filipino writers of all times, and the Rizal Library and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies collaborated to bring to the Ateneo de Manila University a collection of Villa’s books and papers from his own personal library. Hung on the walls were frames relating Villa’s biography. From his childhood through his foreign stints to his success, the story was completely divulged to the visitors. There was also a timeline of the writer’s personal and professional milestones. Personal letters from EE Cummings, Nick Joaquin, and some of his other idols and friends in the literature field were also there. Villa supposedly decided to be a writer after he had read Cumming’s works, and Villa’s personal favorite from Cumming’s work was exhibited. Sherwood Anderson was also one of his influences. It was also fascinating to read his very first poem about love. Dated on 1925, his handwriting and writing style was simplistic yet elegant since then. There was also a poem for Marky Mark or Mark Wahlberg, discussing his very attractive physique. Copies of hardbound editions of his poem collections, trial publication designs, and several original old print of his works were displayed. There were also special editions of his works such as 55 Poems with his own signature and a handsome-boxed edition which is now a collector’s item. It was also said that his first love was drawing, and frames of his own old personal drawings were hung. There were also pictures of him from his youth to his old age. There was one picture of him with Manuel Arguilla, a friend he hangs out with when in Manila, which especially haunted me. His typewriter was also showcased in the exhibit. I was also impressed to find out that Villa is only the second Filipino to be published by Penguin; the first was national hero, Rizal. He was really larger than life. I was particularly taken by one of the poem displayed, At Majority. For me, it immortalizes into words how the Filipinos and his readers will now remember Villa- a beautiful sliver of words and poetry, a figure larger than words, deeper than his writings, and even more beautiful and remembered even in his death.

Propaganda Maps All maps are designed with a purpose; whether to aid in navigation, accompany a news article, or display data. Some maps, however, are designed to be particularly persuasive. Like other forms of propaganda, cartographic propaganda attempts to mobilize viewers for a purpose. Geopolitical maps are the most explicit examples of cartographic propaganda, and throughout history have been utilized to garner support for various causes. Propaganda Maps in Global Conflicts This map from the film depicts the Axis powers plan to conquer the world. In maps such as the aforementioned propaganda map, authors express specific feelings on a topic, creating maps that are meant not just to describe information, but also to interpret it. These maps are often not made with the same scientific or design procedures as other maps; labels, precise outlines of bodies of land and water, legends, and other formal map elements may be disregarded in favor of a map that speaks for itself. As the above image shows, these maps favor graphic symbols that are embedded with meaning. Propaganda maps gained momentum under Nazism and Fascism, as well. One map shows the results of the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election, with blue or red indicating if a state voted majority for the Democratic candidate, Barack Obama, or the Republican candidate, John McCain. From this map there appears to be more red then blue, indicating that the popular vote went Republican. However, the Democrats decidedly won the popular vote and the election, because the population sizes of the blue states are much higher than those of the red states. To correct for this data issue, Mark Newman at the University of Michigan created a Cartogram; a map that scales the state size to its population size. While not preserving the actual size of each state, the map shows a more accurate blue-red ratio, and better portrays the 2008 election results. Propaganda maps have been prevalent in the 20th century in global conflicts when one side wants to mobilize support for its cause. It is not only in conflicts that political bodies utilize persuasive mapmaking however; there are many other situations in which it benefits a country to portray another country or region in a particular light. For example, it has benefited colonial powers to use maps to legitimize territorial conquest and social/economic imperialism.
